The Gospel
The greatest news ever told — that God saves sinners through His Son, Jesus Christ.
1 · Our Need
We Have All Sinned
Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Our sin separates us from a holy God — there is no one who is righteous.
Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of our sin is death. That means the just payment for our sin is to spend eternity separated from God in hell. We all need someone to save us from this condemnation.
2 · Our Hope
Jesus Died and Rose Again
The last part of Romans 6:23 says, "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." John 3:16 describes our hope: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
This is the good news: God saw our need for a Savior and sent His Son Jesus Christ to die on our behalf. Romans 5:8 says that God shows His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Jesus took the punishment for our sin — He was beaten, mocked, and hung on a cross in our place. He died a literal death on our behalf. But it did not stop there — Jesus Christ rose from the grave, defeating sin and death forever! Through Jesus' death and resurrection, we can be saved from our sins and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.
3 · Your Response
Repent and Trust Christ
So what do we do with this? We are to turn away from our sins and call upon the name of the Lord to save us. Romans 10:13 says that "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
When it says whoever, it literally means whoever. No matter how bad you are, what race you are, what your family background is, your age, or your gender. Repent of your sins and let Jesus save you.
Soli Deo Gloria — to God alone be the glory.
